Surviving and Thriving in the Days of the Quarantine

St. Katherine Mission is abiding by Washington State quarantine regulations, and is conducting Sunday services at limited capacity (the details are constantly changing, but we will post an announcement if there is a radical change). If you would like to attend, please sign up for our email newsletter, which has a weekly link to 'register' for a Sunday. We do this to prevent too many people from showing up at once.

Despite the hardships of recent days, we are grateful to announce that we have not had any cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in our community. We are doing our best to keep it that way.

We are continuing, even during the quarantine and limited re-opening, to attract more inquirers and new members. We are thankful to God for His mercy! As a mission parish, we are all about new people with questions and curiosity. If you have not visited us before, you are quite welcome to be with us.

The Orthodox Faith is not easy. We pray a lot. We have fasts (always followed by feasts!). We struggle to do good and avoid evil. We confess our sins. We serve God and our fellow man. We forgive our enemies and pray for them.

This is not for the faint of heart. Some folks want an 'easier, softer way.' This isn't it. Orthodox Christianity is about making the decision to take up your Cross and follow Jesus Christ. It is a path with sorrows and joys, but it is bearable because our sorrows and joys have meaning, and they lead us to something greater than ourselves, which is union with and transformation by Christ.

Our priest does not make up his own theology, but follows the Tradition handed down to us from the Apostles. We follow the Scriptures in the manner which is historically and theologically consistent. You will find the same Orthodox theology in our mission that you will find in any Orthodox Church worldwide. Though we are a minority group in America, we are the second-largest Christian communion on the earth.

We do not have a fancy building or loads of activities (yet), but we do have the love of God and our neighbor.

Please join us!
